MEETARCH 2-5 JULY 2019

The first edition of MEETARCH event was held in the period 2-5 July 2019 in Slaveikov Hall in Sofia, Bulgaria. The event was organized by the International Academy of Architecture in partnership with the French Institute in Bulgaria. During the four memorable days of MEETARCH 2019 the public enjoyed a selection of three of the films on architecture of the world famous video-artists, filmmakers, producers and publishers Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoine and lectures by Ila Bêka and the prominent architect Odile Decq.

The screenings included the movies “THE INFINITE HAPPINESS”, “MORIYAMA-SAN” and “KOOLHAAS HOUSELIFE”. On 3^rd of July after the “MORIYAMA-SAN” screening Ila Bêka had an inspiring lecture and discussion with the public about the creation of the movie and the details of the past, present and future projects of Bêka & Lemoine. The innovative approach towards the presentation of the contemporary architecture through the individual perception of its inhabitants makes the movies exceptional. The audience was savoring by reflecting on them long after watching, expressing their wish to watch all the movies made by Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoine.

On Friday, 5^th of July, architect Odile Decq had an intriguing lecture. Her presence in Sofia was an event of great importance for the Bulgarian architecture and culture society. The lecture was attended by IAA Professors and also notable Bulgarian architects, professors from Bulgarian architecture universities and students.

At the lecture, Mme. Decq presented some of her projects in different areas of architecture, art and design:

– PHANTOM – OPÉRA GARNIER RESTAURANT in Paris, France

– FRAC BRETAGNE CONTEMPORARY ART MUSEUM in Rennes, France

– UNESCO HQ FURNITURE

– LE NOIR, Folding knife with a black blade and Corian handle.

– MICE HOUSE

She presented also the essence and goals of one of her most important projects – CONFLUENCE INSTITUTE for Innovation and Creative Strategies for Architecture, founded by herself in Lyon /from this year moved to Paris/. At the end of her lecture Mme. Decq answered to the questions of the audience, which was really intrigued by the Confluence Institute.
