Foster + Partners reveals a new hospital in Shanghai

Foster + Partners has created a new healthcare facility, which aim is to challenge the traditional hospital prototypes and generate a new type of patient experience.
Working in a close collaboration with Luye Medical and Cleveland Clinic, the creators have designed a building with modular plan, creating flexibility to future changes and integrating leading specialities that will be associated through social spaces. Circulation will be mainly clustered and functional spaces will be grouped around the central atrium.
The project is surrounded by a natural greenery. The building is submerged in a natural landscape, generating a playful game of natural light. It is proven that green spaces are really efficient in the healthcare system and help suffering people to recover faster.
A plenty of intimate spaces with low ceilings and familiar proportions make the future patients to feel at home and enhances the flow of connectivity with the exterior space.
