Grimshaw’s ringed Parramatta Aquatic and Leisure Center in Australia gets approved by City council

The City Council of Paramatta has approved the new Aquatic and Leisure Center, created by Grimshaw architects, Andrew Burges Architects and McGregor Coxall. The project, located in the Mays Hill Precinct of Parramatta Park in New South Wales, Australia, will replace the Parramatta Memorial Pool and will be integrated with the surrounding park.
An outdoor and indoor pool, fitness facilities, a cafe and parking will be included in the new center. The design’s ring shape encircles the outdoor pool space to turn the concept of enclosure into a multi-functional space for programming. The “ring” is one of the main design elements. The other are carved landscape and a gymnasium building, serving as a buffer from the railway and road. The Parramatta pool is set to open in the summer of 2023.
