Norman Foster + Partners reveal the new Open-Air Office Tower in Taipei

The project which will replace the existing Goldsun Group factory and create a new mixed-use typology for the city has recently received planning approval from City Councill.

Grant Brooker, Head of Studio Foster + Partners, explains that “the existing industrial site is going to be transformed into a unique contemporary urban complex – combining workplace, retail and living spaces around a series of tree-filled courtyards”. They hope that it will be “a new social focus that will bring life to the area and form the centrepiece of its regeneration”.

The tower is designed with a series of office, retail and residential blocks around a courtyard. Communal spaces and series of sky gardens which are made to let in natural daylight and ventilation define the open-air concept of the project.
