Between 13 and 16 May 2018 Sofia was the center of world contemporary architecture. The University of Architecture. Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG) hosted the XV World Triennial of Architecture – Interarch 2018. During the four days of the event 26 prominent architects from 15 different countries gave intriguing lectures under the main topic of the event – Sustainable Architecture for Sustainable World.
Part of the Interarch programme were also three exhibition-competitions and two exhibitions – Exhibition-Competition of Architectural Projects and Realizations, Exhibition-Competition of Students’ Projects, Exhibition-Competition of Architectural Books and Magazines (Published after 2010), Exhibition “Leading Masters of World Contemporary Architecture – IAA Members“, Exhibition of Acad. Georgi Stoilov. The corridors of the university became stage for 470 panels of 130 international architects and students from 18 countries, who were competing in the different categories of Interarch 2018. The books and magazines competition-exhibition showed 20 books and 14 magazines on architecture issued in the last 8 years. The winners of the exhibition-competitions were announced at the Closing ceremony of the event on May 16.
The winner of the Crystal Globe award is the founder and Honorary President of the International Academy of Architecture – Acad. Georgi Stoilov, whose solo exhibition consisted of 40 works. The Exhibition “Leading Masters of World Contemporary Architecture – IAA Members“ was held at Alma Mater Gallery of the Sofia University “Kliment Ohridski” and presented 30 projects of 16 architects.
Interarch 2018 was organized by the International Academy of Architecture and was held under the patronage of UNESCO, the mayor of Sofia and in partnership with the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, Sofia, the Union of Architects in Bulgaria, the Chamber of Architects in Bulgaria, the Cultural Center of SU “Kliment Ohridski” and Rigips Bulgaria.
